Beldam Burgmann appoints two fugitive emissions sales specialists

Beldam Burgmann, the UK's only genuine nationwide packing and static sealing specialist, has created two new account manager roles, with Jamie Hill and Clive Burkinshaw being appointed as sales managers with specific responsibility for fugitive emissions.

The new positions have been created in light of the EU's IPPC directive 96/61/EU. This new legislation is aimed at improving the management of industrial process and ensures a higher level of protection for the environment. The reduction of fugitive emissions plays a large part in the new directive and Beldam Burgmann has created these specialist roles to help provide solutions to both new and existing customers.

Jamie Hill joins Beldam Burgmann from its sister company Beldam Crossley where he was PTFE account manager, focusing on chemically inert plastics, for customers in the south of England. Prior to his time at Beldam Crossley, Jamie spent 6 years at W.L.Gore & Associates as account manager for its industrial sealing products. He was also European product manager for the company's specialised peristaltic pump tube product, and was responsible for creating a market for the product in the UK and on the continent.

Clive Burkinshaw joins Beldam Burgmann from Weir Engineering Services where he was sales manager for the company's valve division, serving the petrochemical and power industries on a nationwide basis. Prior to joining Weir, Clive spent four years as UK sales manager for Furmanite International specialising in under pressure leak sealing, and has been involved in establishing leak detection and repair programs (LDAR) in the petrochemical and refining industries.

Commenting on the new appointments, Peter Childs, managing director of Beldam Burgmann, said: "The new directive relating to fugitive emissions has been applicable to all new-build factories since 1997. However, it becomes applicable to all existing sites in October 2007. With this in mind, fugitive emissions will be a major issue for customers in the next few years, so we have created these new specialist roles in order to offer both new and existing clients the best possible expertise and service."

Childs added: "Both Clive and Jamie and have a wealth of experience within the UK chemical and petrochemical industries and their knowledge on fugitive emissions and solutions is second to none."

The new recruits will operate on a geographical basis with Jamie covering the South of England and Wales and Clive the North and Scotland.
