Beldam Burgmann seals the deal with Degussa

Beldam Burgmann, the UK's only genuine nationwide packing and static sealing specialist, has agreed a product and pricing partnership with the speciality chemical manufacturer, Degussa.

Under the agreement, Beldam Bergmann will now be the preferred supplier of gaskets to Degussa's chemical intermediates plant on Teesside. The plant, which manufactures agrochemicals and chemicals for use in the pharmaceutical industry, will now be supplied with the Gore UPG 800 series gasket, which is held in stock at Beldam Burgmann's Middlesbrough branch.

The Gore UPG (universal pipe gasket), is used to seal all types of flanges in chemical process piping and is designed to work in conjunction with a wide range of piping materials. Due to its design, the 800 series provides the lowest stress-to seal for applications in the most fragile of plastic, steel and glass-lined flanges.

Commenting on the agreement, Duncan Shearer, Supply Chain Specialist at Degussa, explains that it was an engineering decision to incorporate the use of the 800 series which in turn led to the agreement with Beldam Burgmann.   He comments:   "Our sister company in Belgium have been using the 800 series for some time now and recommended we did the same.   When we contacted Gore, they suggested we speak to Beldam Burgmann, and, having worked with them in the past, we were delighted to do so.

"The initial product supply and pricing agreement will run for 12 months with the view to extending this thereafter."

Peter Childs, managing director of Beldam Burgmann, commented: "We are very pleased to be the preferred supplier of gaskets to Degussa's Teeside plant and are delighted with the recommendation we received from Gore.

"The Gore UPG Gasket is an integral part of our range and in particular, is an important part of our fugitive emissions programme.   In this respect, Degussa will benefit greatly as we help them to meet the new IPCC regulations."
