Pilot Cordpack 3235 is manufactured from pure PTFE tape controlled density which is spirally - wrapped to form a cord ideally suitable for fitting into a restricted gland space. The unique method of producing tape, in which the polymer particles are specially orientated, restricts lateral flow and the possibility of extrusion. Controlled longitudinal flow enables Pilot Cordpack 3235 to seal with the minimum of compression and the inherent resilience of the material ensures continual sealing in service.
Pilot Cordpack 3235 is designed primarily as a value gland packing when it should be spirally - wrapped round the valve stem in the direction of tightening and followed up firmly with the gland nut. This will compress the cord to fill the gland space with the minimum of loading.
Pilot Cordpack 3235 can be used also for sealing flanges when an orthodox gasket is not available. Care is necessary to ensure that the cord is retained in the correct location and, if possible, it should be looped round flanged studs. To obtain a continuous sealing ring, the ends of the cord should be loosely twisted together.
