Acids, Alkalis, Gases, Oils, Solvents and Water

An extremely low friction extruded packing containing PTFE, graphite and a suitable lubricant. Special processes used in its manufacture eliminate the possibility of electrolytic action when used with stainless steel shafts.

The packaging conforms readily to the contour of the gland space and will provide a seal with the maximum of gland pressure. It is impervious to gases and is ideal for sealing against vacuum. When fitting, the ends of the packaging should be scarfed and the gland tightened gradually, until a complete seal is obtained. To avoid extrusion, clearance between shaft and neck bush or gland follower should not exceed 0.5mm in diameter. If greater clearances are encountered, it is recommended that a ring of Pilotpack 3408, 3410 or Pilot jointing should be fitted at each end of the gland, to provide additional support.

Applications

• Rotary and static. All chemicals including acids, alkalis, gases, oils, solvents and water.
• Not suitable for use with flourine, molten alkali metals or liquid oxygen.
