Plaited from a flexible yarn of fine graphite filament to form a resilient packing, which is resistant to extremely high temperature and a very wide range of chemicals. High thermal conductivity and self -lubrication are two of the inherent properties of graphite filament which combine to offer unique advantages in a gland packing. The self - lubricating properties and impermeability of the packing are further improved by a through impregnation with PTFE. One of the most common causes of failure of conventional packings is overheating caused by high friction.
Pilotpack 4010, with its characteristic rapid dissipation of heat and extremely low coefficient of friction, is capable of adjustment to provide a drip - free seal. This offers great advantages over the other types of seals, particularly when containing corrosive or toxic liquids.
